Economic Lives of the Poor

I feel that that the section on how the poor spend their money is very important. I learned some different things within that section such as the amount of money that is spent on intoxicants. Food does represent a huge percentage of the money that is spent ussually 78-90% is spent on food but as for the other percentage of that money around 2-4% is spent on alchol or intoxicants. I see this as a problem but I understand why it occurs. Alcholoism can be a result of depression these people have no stable job and only have enough to survive, if I was in their predicament I would resort to alcholism too. This references to the video segment as well. In the portion where the guy that from the vulcanizing shop describes his trouble with keeping a steady job to help his children, it seems really difficult to cope with. For all of the hard work they put in for the little money they recieve I completly understand some of there purchasing habits.
